Since
2006 I have been actively fundraising for children's charities. My first
project was driving from
Vancouver, British Columbia to
St. John’s, Newfoundland, in my 1967 Sunbeam Alpine, to compete (Team
Sunbeam) in the
world-class Tarmac Rally, Targa
Newfoundland. That year success was measured on many levels: driving
9,900 km, racing and finishing Targa and most significantly raising
$15,500 for children’s charities. Currently I am raising $1 Million for
BC Children’s Hospital Foundation and in need of sponsorship support.
My
primary goal is to raise $1 Million dollars benefiting British
Columbia Children's Hospital Foundation. “The Hospital is a
world-class pediatric academic health science centre providing care to
over one million children in B.C. Almost daily, amazing new discoveries
come out of the hospital and its research institute – discoveries that
have the potential to improve the health of children everywhere;
discoveries that help sick and injured children today and tomorrow. The
key to providing the best child health is being able to solve the many
unanswered questions about the onset and cause of childhood diseases. We
tend to share our successes more than our needs. Yet our needs are great
and our needs are urgent! Your contributions are absolutely vital.”
Over
the coming years I have numerous projects in the works to help reach my
benchmark. Currently, I am attempting to break the Guinness World Record
for the largest penny pyramid. Also, future considerations
include hiking Mount Kilimajaro and racing,
once again, at Targa Newfoundland. The fundraising will be conducted in
the greater Vancouver area at various community events however I will also
be attending key events within the Province.
Targa Newfoundland
is a weeklong tarmac rally competition, in stages,
along a 2,200 km route through the eastern and central parts of the
Province. This event is a great opportunity to compete with some of the
best rally racers and establish a partnership with their respected
teams. It offers an exceptional opportunity to interact with people from
various communities and provides children the chance to get up-close to
these unique race vehicles and their teams.
The
selected promotion vehicle is a
1969 Sunbeam Imp, a ground up, purpose built,
rally vehicle boasting some unique gadgets including a candy dispenser. This vehicle will be used -
on an ongoing basis - to raise funds for the BC Children’s Hospital.
Furthermore, children from the hospital will be invited to place their
handprints on the Imp and sign it.
In
2006 sponsorship support was paramount to my success and the experience
essential in establishing the foundation to continue racing for children’s
charities. Your support is needed to facilitate operating costs including
entry fee, transportation, lodging, fuel, parts, supplies, insurance and
sundries. I welcome in-kind product and cash donations.
Team
Sunbeam presents an excellent public relations opportunity offering
low-cost advertising for sponsors. As a community oriented group dedicated
to children’s charities, this project is a positive endeavor. Our
success lies with your generous support.
Thank
you for your support,
